VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies with new name and new Board

The manufacturers of garment and leather as well as laundry and textile cleaning technology grouped in VDMA, will become VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies

The new name reflects the industry’s strong international approach. Apart from that, each sector represented in the Association – manufacturers of sewing and garment technology, manufacturers of shoe and leather technology, manufacturers of laundry and textile cleaning technology and manufacturers of machines for processing technical textiles – shall find themselves reflected in the new designation.

New Board elected

At this year’s Industry Meeting of VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies, Günter Veit, Managing Director of Veit GmbH, was re- elected as Chairman of the Association for the next three years. Likewise, Klaus Freese, Managing Director of DESMA Schuhmaschinen GmbH, was re-confirmed as Deputy Chairman. In addition, the complete Board of the Association was newly elected.

VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies continues to grow

From January to July 2016, sales of German manufacturers had increased by 5.2 per cent in real terms compared to the previous year. The sewing and garment technology sector recorded an increase of its sales by 6.6 per cent in real terms from January to July. Exports rose by six per cent to 523 million Euros in 2015 and reached their highest level since 2003. The key export markets for this development were the USA, Poland and Italy. German manufacturers of laundry and textile cleaning technology also look back on a successful year 2015: exports increased by 2.4 % from EUR 404 million in 2014 to EUR 414 million (2015). Their main consumer markets were China, the USA and Turkey. In the current year, sales of laundry and textile cleaning technology once more continued to grow and from January to July, increased by 4.6 % in real terms compared to last year.
