Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist: Nomination procedure launched

Bern, 31.01.2023 The Marcel Benoist Foundation has awarded the Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist every year since 1920. This year the prize, which is endowed with CHF 250,000, will be awarded in the field of life sciences. Nominations can be submitted up to March 15,2023.

The Swiss Science Prize Marcel Benoist is Switzerland’s most prestigious research prize. It honours individuals with an outstanding professional career whose research work has originated mainly in Switzerland and has made a significant contribution to scientific knowledge and to society. To date eleven prizewinners have gone on to win the Nobel Prize.

Nobel Laureate Didier Queloz became chair of the Foundation at the beginning of this year. He took over the position from Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, who continues to support the Foundation: “I am convinced that the prize will gain even more prestige and prominence under Professor Queloz.”

The 2022 Marcel Benoist Prize having been awarded in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering, in 2023 renowned personalities in Swiss research can be nominated who are active in the life sciences, i.e. in biology or medicine.

The winners of the Swiss Science Prizes Marcel Benoist and Latsis will receive their awards at a joint award ceremony of the two foundations, which will be held on October 30, 2023 in Bern. The prizewinners will be made known to the public in September.

Nominations to be submitted by July 15, 2023
