The world statistical community is working to update the 2008 System of National Accounts (2008 SNA), the global standards that set the rules for the calculation of GDP and other key macroeconomic indicators. This work focuses in particular on giving appropriate visibility to the effects of digitalisation and globalisation on the economy, integrating elements of social wellbeing and environmental sustainability in the national accounts and enhancing the communication of macroeconomic statistics to improve their accessibility and usability for all.
Eurostat and the United Nations Statistics Division are organizing a global conference on “Macroeconomic Statistics for the Future” as a high-level platform where users and producers can exchange on user needs, how the ongoing work on the SNA update meets them and possible remaining gaps.
The Conference takes place today and tomorrow, 10-11 November 2022, as an in-presence meeting at the Palais d’Egmont in Brussels. It brings together participants from all regions of the world, including politicians, public officials working in policy development, national accounts compilers and academics.
The full programme is available on the conference website: https://www.statistics4future.eu/. From the website, you can also follow the live web stream of the conference.
