The European Commission has decided on Oct. 12, 2022, to appoint Magda Kopczynska as Deputy Director-General for its Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI).

This Commission department is responsible for EU policy on agriculture and rural development and deals with all aspects of the common agricultural policy (CAP).
Magda Kopczynska, a Polish national, will build on her solid background in inter-institutional affairs, policy design and implementation as well as her robust management and leadership skills. Through her previous roles, she has also obtained a strong strategic planning capacity and excellent negotiations and representation skills.
Magda Kopczynska is currently Director for ‘Waterborne transport’ in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), after heading the ‘Innovative and Sustainable Mobility’ Directorate for several years. In these roles, she was responsible for several files to increase the sustainability of maritime transport, both in the European and international context. She also contributed to Solidarity Lanes and worked to facilitate the transport of agricultural products from Ukraine.
Before joining the Commission in 2006 as Administrator in the Directorate-General for Internal Market and Services, she led the Brussels Office of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers, undertaking a representation role vis-à-vis EU Institutions. She also worked as Head of Cabinet of the Mayor of Warsaw.
