4th meeting of the Industrial Forum focuses on raw materials and sustainable energy

On June 29, 2022, the Executive Vice-President responsible for a Europe in the Digital Age, Margrethe Vestager, and Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton. The members of the Forum, who meet in person for the first time, will address the scaling up of the manufacturing of key products and components for our future energy system and how to secure EU supply of critical raw materials. In addition, members will take stock of the progress made and discuss next steps for the Forum’s five work streams: economic analyses of ecosystems; transition pathways; strategic dependencies; cross-border investments and advanced manufacturing. The Forum, which contributed to developing pathways for the green and digital transition of industrial ecosystems, will also discuss the impact of the war in Ukraine on the design and implementation of the pathways. It will look specifically at lessons learnt from the transition pathway on tourism. Finally, today’s gathering will also reflect on how members of the Forum can contribute to the implementation of the EU’s Standardisation strategy. The Industrial Forum provides the Commission with expert advice on the implementation of the EU’s Updated Industrial Strategy. Members of the Forum include representatives from Member States and stakeholders from industry, academia, civil society, trade unions and other organisations.
