The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the creation of a joint venture by Estavayer Lait SA, Givaudan SA and Bühler AG , all of Switzerland.
The joint venture, Cultured Food Innovation Hub, will provide facilities and knowledge to accelerate the research and development work of companies interested in becoming active in the sectors of cultured meat, fish and seafood, as well as precision fermentation.
Estavayer Lait is active in the production and packaging of dairy products.
Givaudan is a manufacturer and supplier of fragrance and flavor products to the food, beverage and consumer goods sectors.
Bühler provides technological solutions for food processing and advanced materials manufacturing. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the absence of overlaps or vertical links between the companies’ activities. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information is available on the Commission’s competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10653.
