Learn about “The Changing Landscape for Repellent & Soil Release Fabric Finishes” at Techtextil NA 2022 in Atlanta (USA)

B&O Technical Director of Product Innovations, Mohan Rao, will deliver a presentation on fluorine-free DWRs and new global regulations on the horizon tied to C6 and fluorine-free durable water repellents.

New regulations are emerging in both the United States and European Union that limit or prohibit the use of some fluorine-based textile repellent finishes. Mohan Rao, Technical Director of Textile Product Innovations at Bolger & O’Hearn, will address this topic in a symposium titled “Circular Economy and Sustainability,” which takes place Wednesday, May 18, in Atlanta at Techtextil NA 2022.

Rao is one of four panelists addressing the topic of textile industry sustainability, and his portion will drill down into both the efficacy and sustainability issues tied to current water-repellent finish technologies. Rao specializes in developing innovative fluorochemical technologies of different functionalities as well as fluorine-free, sustainable water repellants for various textile market segments.

The full presentation, which was moderated by Ben Mead from the Hohenstein Institute, will focus on the various challenges faced when implementing sustainable practices – from materials sourcing to energy and water consumption to the elimination of hazardous chemicals and waste.

The symposium begun at 2:30 pm and ending at 4 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Techtextil NA 2022 takes place May 17 to 19 at the Georgia World Conference Center in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
