Third online sharing session on Closing the Gender Gap in IP – Looking at Good Practices (October 12)
The World Intellectual Property Organization is organizing a series of sharing sessions to Close the Gender Gap in Intellectual Property (IP) focusing on women and IP.
What are the sharing sessions for?
The sharing sessions have the objective to:
• Raise awareness about the importance to bridge the existing gender innovation gap and increase participation by women and girls in the innovation ecosystem;
• Promote the results of WIPO’s work in this area; and
• Bring together various stakeholders from around the world to share their experience and practices in addressing the barriers faced by women and girls in accessing the IP system.
They are free of charge and open to participation by all. Sessions will be held in English and interpretation provided in French and Spanish.

It will look at good practices in IP service delivery, design and analysis by various stakeholders, in order to enhance women’s participation and contribution to the IP ecosystem. Panelists will include representatives from the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), the Innovation & Technology Transfer Center of the Sultan Qaboos University of Oman, the Ugandan-based non-governmental organization Grooming a Successful Woman with Intellectual Mind, and the network IP Inclusive.
Ms. Binying Wang, Deputy Director General, Brands and Designs Sector of WIPO will open the event. The event will conclude with a panel discussion and a Q&A session moderated by H.E. Aurora Diaz-Rato Revuelta, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations Office at Geneva.
