At the late Domotex 2018 (January 11-14, 2018) the RadiciGroup Synthetic Fibres Business Area is showcasing its latest textile flooring solutions for contract and residential applications
Italian RadiciGroup was exhibiting at Domotex 2018 with one of the world’s widest ranges of floor covering products: from polyamide 6 and bio polyamide 6.6 carpet yarn to polyethylene and polypropylene artificial grass yarn, ideal for synthetic turf used to polyethylene and polypropylene artificial grass yarn, ideal for synthetic turf used to enhance both public and private spaces.
Thus, a complete offering of materials – all manufactured in Europe – from RadiciGroup, an industrial multinational engaged in numerous sectors, but with a special focus on and years of experience in flooring for homes, offices, hotels, ships and many other applications.
The Radifloor® BCF yarn line – manufactured and processed at the RadiciGroup plants in Casnigo, Italy, and Podborany, Czech Republic – boasts an ever increasing variety of new products. The RadiciGroup Synthetic Fibres Business Area is presenting new PA 6.6 yarn made of polymers with different dye affinities (deep and basic), making it possible to manufacture supersoft carpet with chromatic effects (not just a single colour, as has been the case up to now). Furthermore, two new kinds of yarn have been added to the range: superbright PA 6.6 1350 F 68 BRIGHT yarn, sporting high performance characteristics and targeted at the printed entrance mat segment, and PA 6.6 Dtex 1100F256 Bright Heat Set SUPERBA yarn, featuring a soft hand and a unique design with iridescent effects.
Upstream vertical integration allows RadiciGroup to deliver yarns that can make the dying process easier for customers, meet the varied requirements set by designers and ensure more resistant and longer-lasting flooring. Thanks to the improvements made to Power Heat Set technology, RadiciGroup’s portfolio for the residential segment comprises a large selection of PA 6 frisé yarns with various deep and cationic dye affinity combinations, for a luxurious effect that is a good value.
“I’d like to point out that RadiciGroup is the only European producer with full control of its entire polyamide production process, from polymer chemicals to synthetic fibres and engineering plastics, including end-of-life recycling,” said Nicola Agnoli, business area manager of RadiciGroup Performance Yarn. “One of the greatest challenges for us today is the complete recyclability of our synthetic fibres. Our goal is to achieve mechanical recyclability for all of our textile products in order to recover the plastic for other technical and industrial uses. This is the core of our strategy for a truly sustainable business and a real circular economy.”
On the environmental front, RadiciFil in Casnigo, Italy, has recently obtained ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certification renewal according to the new 2015 version of the standards, as well as ISO 50001 (Energy Management) renewal. In a market flooded with environmental labels of various kinds, which, however, do not provide the same level of guarantee as the internationally recognized ISO standards, these management certifications give RadiciGroup an extra layer of reliability vis-à- vis its customers.
At the Domotex 2018 fair, RadiciGroup Comfort Fibres Business Area was showcasing its entire PA 6 and PA 6.6 product range, under the Radilon®, dorix® and dorix tech® brand names. This year, the range also comprises a line of bio polyamides (polyamides obtained from renewable source materials). The Group’s decision to invest in sustainability at all production chain levels has been implemented in this business area through the use of renewable source materials for the manufacture of products, combining improved technical characteristics (mechanical and chemical resistance, light weight, dimensional stability, etc.) with reduced environmental impact.
At the fair, RadiciGroup was also exhibiting products from its Extrusion Yarn Business Area: polyethylene, polypropylene and polyamide yarns for the manufacture of artificial grass. Nowadays, synthetic turf is widely used for both public and private green areas, particularly spaces for recreation and relaxation. MY Radigreen®– the brand name for yarns specifically developed for the manufacture of synthetic turf to be installed in residential, household and commercial areas – stands for creativity, innovation and customization. MY is the acronym for Multi-Yarn, a combination of many monofilaments on the same bobbin developed to give maximum colour flexibility and, at the same time, simplify the production process for the turf manufacturer.
* Mechanical recycling is a solution that allows for saving 92,000 tons of CO2 per year. Note that 4 million trees would be needed to absorb this amount of CO2. Mechanical recycling also yields a savings of EUR 9 million in energy and environmental costs.
