China Announces Tariff Adjustments for 2021

The General Administration of Customs announced on 30 December 2020 the implementation details of tariff adjustments for the year of 2021, subsequent to a notice issued by the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council. For Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariffs, provisional import tariffs will be levied on 883 commodities (excluding tariff-quota products) as of January 1, 2021 while provisional import tariff rates on nine information technology products will be cancelled beginning on  July 1, 2021 (Announcement No. 135 [2020]). The sixth round of MFN tariff concessions of information technology products as listed in the appendix of the modified WTO schedules of concessions for tariff reductions will begin from July 1, 2021. Other provisions of this announcement have also been effective from January 1, 2021 unless otherwise specified.
