Coats Brazil amongst the best companies to work for Women

Coats Brazil has been named as one of the Best Companies to Work for Women by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTW). Coats was classified as one of the best 35 companies in the large company category which includes those with 1000 employees or more. GPTW is a global research and training consultancy which supports organisations to create high performing workplaces through a culture of trust, high performance and innovation where employees feel trusted and valued.

The announcement was made at RH Summit, the largest HR event in Latin America, which this year took place online in June. It was attended by business leaders and senior HR representatives from Brazil’s leading industries and sectors.

A total of 575 companies from across Brazil participated in the GPTW survey which is based around a rigorous evaluation process. The key criteria for the ranking is the level of trust employees have in their organisation. This is measured using two methods. First, the culture of the organisation is surveyed through a Trust Index, which is modelled on five dimensions found in the employee view of a great workplace, including values, opportunities and wellbeing. That is then followed by an evaluation of the actions taken to promote gender equality. The Culture Audit looks at nine areas from the management definition of a great workplace, including development, inspiration and celebration.

Coats Brazil started a focused programme to support the development of women in the workplace in 2017 and over the last three years has been partnering with the consulting firm, Impuslo Beta who specialise in delivering diversity training to multinational companies in Brazil. The training includes a series of initiatives and programmes which includes the mentoring programme in partnership with Impulso Beta and ESPM University; workshops for leaders about unconscious bias and gender stereotypes; and coaching sessions on how to improve gender diversity.

The recognition follows Coats Brazil being certified as a Great Place to Work for the third consecutive year. 2020 also marks the 113th anniversary of Coats starting its operations in Brazil.
