The city will host the first GreenStitched Film Festival – a day long screening of documentaries on sustainable fashion on Saturday, the February 18, 2017. This event is supported by National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Bengaluru and will be held at its auditorium in HSR Layout. Fashion industry is the second most polluting industry, next only to oil. Still awareness on the environmental and social impacts of this 1.2 trillion dollar industry is lacking. The GreenStitched Film Festival (GFF) aims to bridge this gap and invites students, academia, industry professionals and anyone curious to be a part of it. During this free event, the audience will also get to interact with the directors and people associated with the films being screened.

“Sustainability is at the forefront of fashion industry. By supporting an event like the GreenStitched Film Festival, NIFT Bengaluru is involving the academic and industry community to understand the nuances surrounding sustainable fashion.”, says Professor Shivalingam, Director of NIFT Bengaluru.

“GreenStitched Film Festival has been curated with films that cover a range of issues like cotton, fast fashion, slow fashion, social issues, waste and design. There is something to learn for anyone who basically wears clothes.”, says Roshni Rajendra, Festival Manager. “GFF will further travel to major cities in India in 2017 and calls for partner support.”, adds Roshni.

Films that GFF will screen include critically acclaimed and award winning movies like Weaves of Maheshwar and Unravel. Many of the films showcased, like Frontline Fashion, will be premiering for the first time in India. Detailed agenda is available on the website
GFF is managed by GreenStitched, along with local partners – Ecofolk and Eunoia.
