China files WTO complaint against US, EU over price comparison methodologies

On December 12, 2016 China notified the WTO Secretariat that it had requested dispute consultations with the United States and the European Union regarding special calculation methodologies used by the US and EU in anti-dumping proceedings

What is a request for consultations?

The request for consultations formally initiates a dispute in the WTO. Consultations give the parties an opportunity to discuss the matter and to find a satisfactory solution without proceeding further with litigation. After 60 days, if consultations have failed to resolve the dispute, the complainant may request adjudication by a panel.

In the case of the EU where better trade regulations and restrictions were ratified, China will evoke that it is not treated as a market economy as it is recognised by the WTO, the World Trade Organisation. We will keep TextileFuture’s readers informed on the outcome of the dispute.
