Pakistan garment exports surge 3.76 % in July – August 2016

Pakistan RMG exports surged 3.76 % during the first two months of the current fiscal year. During the same period, about 5109000 dozen readymade garments worth of USD  364.072 million were exported, as compared to the exports of 4944000 dozen worth of USD 350.867 million of same period of last year.

According to reports, bed wear exports rose by 5.28%, as about 58,365 metric tons of bed wear worth USD 355.799 million exported during the same period.

The exports of bed wear were recorded at 52151 metric tons with a total cost of USD 337.955 million in July-August, 2015-16.

Meanwhile, the exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin increased by 82.55 percent, as 5226 metric tons of the above mentioned commodities worth USD 16.807 million were exported, as compared to the exports of 3651 metric tonnes worth of USD 9.207 million of same period of last year, it said.

The made-up particles’ exports also witnessed 11.83 % increase, as these articles worth of USD 102.44 million were exported, as it was recorded at USD 91.61 million in same period of last financial year, the data added. According to the PBS data, during the period under review, other textile material exports posted 9.35 % and textile materials worth of USD 69.288 million were exported, as compared to the exports of USD 63.361 million of same period of last year.

It may be recalled that textile group exports reduced by 2.64 % in first two months of current fiscal year and was recorded at USD 2.71 billion, as compared to the exports of USD 2.127 billion of same period of last year. The exports of raw cotton, cotton yarn and cotton cloth were decreased by 55.67 %, 16.64 % and 4.12 % respectively. However, the exports of cotton carded or combed registered 537.04 % increase in first two months of current financial year.
