OC Oerlikon to invest heavily into Additive Manufacturing for complex industrial components

According to a feature in Schweizerische Handelszeitung, Zurich, Switzerland OC-Oerlikon CEO Roland Fischer OC Oerlikon is to invest heavily into additive manufacturing (3D printing) for complex industrial components as a contractor

This investment means that a new growth area will be initiated, called AM Additive Manufacturing and will initiate a new production network with industrial 3D printers. For the next few years Fischer is providing an investment series in the three digit CHF million.

AM segment CEO is confirming to the weekly Handelszeitung: “We want to acquire also enterprises with a market share of up to USD 100 million within the next few years.” According to company sources it is expected to soon announce a first acquisition in the order of a two digit million investment.

The building-up of the production network will however be executed with the acquisition of 3D printers. For further expansion of the AM segment also partnerships with enterprises for 3D Systems in France and with Stratasys in Israel are intended.

In addition to manufacturing Oerlikon is inclined to enforce and enhance the software sector through cooperation with the leading companies of the sector, such as Dassault, Autodesk and Siemens.
