Turkey’s political development worries German Hochschule Niederrhein

Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach, Germany expresses worries upon the political development in Turkey.HS Niederrhein Scientists are not allowed to travel to foreign sites and residing Turkish scientist living outside Turkey are to return to Turkey. In addition the release of 1500 deans and professors add to the difficult situation

The German university entertains partnering cooperation with seven Turkish Universities. Turkey has been so far the most favourite partner of the German University, in particular the department of Textiles and Clothing Technologies were there are vividly used exchanges of students, now at peril to dry out.

“Every semester four to eight students from Turkey came to Mönchengladbach, Germany, and in exchange 10 to 12 students were engaged in executing a semester at a foreign university, additional two to three students choose Turkey for that purpose” states Nicole Blankenhagel of the Foreign Academic Authority of the German University. She adds “extremely popular are Istanbul Technical University, the Marmara University in Istanbul and the EGE University in Izmir.

For the upcoming winter semester six Turkish student were applying at Mönchengladbach for an exchange semester. “We can only hope that they will be coming” said Blankenhagel. However no student of the German University will serve the winter semester in Turkey due to the uncertain situation in Turkey.

The German University is entertaining relations to the Dokuz Eylul University in Izwmir, the Erciyes University in Kayeri, the Cukurova Univeresity in Adana, the Ege University in Izmir, the Marmara University in Istanbul, the Istanbul Technical University and the Istanbul Aydin University, and the scientific relations between Turkey and Germany are in general traditionally very intense. This is true for many other scientific institutions in Germany.
