Asia Outdoor finishes with more exhibitors and record number of visitors
The 11th Asia Outdoor Trade Show has ended successfully: Covering 48000 square meters of the Nanjing Expo fairground, it was attended by a record number of 705 exhibiting brands (2015: 617), 26 percent of them international. They presented their products to a total of 19502 trade visitors (2015: 19002). Particularly well-received were a large number of talks, discussion panels and opportunities to test products and sports. According to the visitors’ survey, 94 % of the visitors were satisfied with Asia Outdoor, 92 % confirmed that they will return in 2017
In the growing Chinese outdoor market, trade shows no longer solely exhibit products. Instead, they are becoming comprehensive platforms for the transfer of information, meeting points and testing facilities. Stefan Reisinger, Head of OutDoor/Eurobike, explains: “As the largest and most professional trade show in the Chinese outdoor industry, Asia Outdoor serves not only as a commercial platform providing business opportunities for brands and dealers, but also as a social platform for the whole industry.” Richard Li, Project Director Asia Outdoor, adds: “Aside from the display of products from almost every sector of the industry, this year’s edition of Asia Outdoor has also set its mark as the meeting spot and exchange platform for the Asian outdoor industry, assuming a role very similar to the one OutDoor in Friedrichshafen plays for the European market.” This year, numerous seminars, discussion panels and activities and testing options for visitors took place in Nanjing, such as the COA Outdoor China Summit and the Water Sports village.
During the show, the China Outdoor Association (COA) released the 2015 China Outdoor Industry Report. On June 29, 2016, one day before the show opened, the 2nd COA Outdoor China Summit, focusing on the themes of integration and development, drew a large crowd of visitors. The Summit started with the initiation of 12 new COA members. As of now, the industry association has 17 members representing 38 outdoor brands, and aims for cooperation that will promote the sustainable growth of the whole industry. The summit centered on topics such as the evolution of the outdoor industry and the integration of the outdoor and tourism industries. The topics were of great interest to the audience and energetically discussed. “The COA Outdoor China Summit is a great opportunity to present topics and open up discussions which concern the Asian outdoor industry,” explains Zeng Hua, president of Scaler.
The Asia Outdoor Industry Awarding Ceremony was held on June 30th. Altogether 21 products won an award, and 12 of these were from Chinese companies. As the Chinese outdoor market matures, Chinese outdoor brands are paying more and more attention to the design of products. “Asia Outdoor has specialized in inviting trade visitors and providing excellent service to the brands. The products that have won awards will be in the industry’s spotlight,” one of the award recipients said.
Another highlight of Asia Outdoor 2016 was the new self-driving & RV camping village. Camping has become a consumer-demand oriented outdoor activity. With this new village-like venue, where exhibitors presented their products, including RVs, camping equipment and camping site resources, Asia Outdoor attempted to reflect these market developments. In addition, the China Camping Industry Open Class offered new ideas for the organization of camping sessions. Having increased its size, the Running Village continues to be very popular this year. The well-received two-day China Running Industry Forum focused on the latest trends in running. Other supporting programs, such as the Outdoor Club Home with an open class, and the first Kailas Cup COA Climbing Competition, also achieved high visitor involvement.
The 12th Asia Outdoor will take place from June 29 to July 2, 2017 in Nanjing, China.
