Switzerland again with less textile machinery exports in May, but better textile trade

According to Custom Authority readings, the export of textile machinery in May suffered of a another decline, whereas textiles, clothing and footwear exports increased

Swiss textile machinery exports diminished in real terms in May by 23 % or less CHF 20 million to a total of CHF 70 million, compared to the same month in 2015. Working days adjusted the nominal value decreased by 26.1 % and in real terms 27.1 %.

Textiles, Clothing and Footwear exports amounted to CHF 283 million, a plus of 30 million, resulting in a nominal increase of 11.7 % and in real terms of 13.5 % in May and as against May 2015. Working days adjusted the nominal value was + 6.1 % and the real term value +6.9 %.

Switzerland imported clothing in the value of CHF 381 million in May, a plus of CHF 59 million resulting in a nominal value of 18.4 % and in real terms of 17.0 %. Working days adjusted the increase amounts to 12.3 % nominal and 11.0 % in real terms.

Textile imports had a value tag of CHF 168 or a plus of CHF 19 million resulting in an increase of 12.4 % nominal and 9.6 % in real terms, working days adjusted the real nominal growth was 6.9 % and in real terms 4.3 %.

Footwear imports increased by CHF 21 million to a total of CHF 111 million or 22.9 % nominal and 15.4 % in real terms, working days adjusted the increase was 16.6 % nominal and 9.5 % real. Total exports of the two textile sectors and footwear amounted to CHF 659 million, a plus of 98 million and a nominal increase of 17.5 % and 14.6 % real, working day adjusted the plus was CHF 72 million or +11.5 % nominal and +8.8 % in real terms.

Total Swiss Exports amounted to CHF 17252 million, a plus of CHF 1733 million or 11.2 % nominal and 1.4 % real, working days adjusted resulted a plus of CHF 978 million or + 5.7 % nominal and 3,6 % real against May 2015.

Total Swiss Imports were CHF 13466 million, a plus of CHF 1338 million resulting in a plus of 11.0 % nominal and 9.5 % real, working days adjusted resulted a plus of CHF 745 million, an increase of 5.5 % nominal and 4.1 % real.
