More Swiss textiles and footwear, but less textile machinery exported in April 2016
The latest Swiss customs statistics show that Switzerland exported more textiles, clothing and footwear in April on a year to year basis. On the other hand, textile machinery exports sank
The export of textiles, clothing and footwear in April 2016 against the same months 2015 increased real by 12.2 % to CHF 288 million. In contrast textile machinery dropped in real terms by 17.5 %, and workdays adjusted also in real terms by 21.4 % to CHF 76 million.
Textile, clothing and footwear imports in April 2016 (on a year to year basis) increased in real terms by 8.4 %, workdays adjusted + 3.1 % to CHF 688 million. Thereof clothing contributed CHF 398 million (+ 10.2 %, respectively + 4.8 %), textiles CHF 168 million (+1.8 %, respectively -2.9 %), and footwear CHF 122 million (+12.7 %, respectively + 7.2 %).
Switzerland’s total exports in April amounted to CHF 17955 million, a plus of CHF 1851 million (+ 4.3 % in real terms against April 2015, and workday adjusted resulted -0.6 %). Total imports amounted to CHF15482 million, a plus of CHF 1850 million (+8.3 % in real terms, workdays adjusted + 3.2 %).
