Dutch public private partnership on CSR and sustainability in the apparel industry
Before Easter 2016, a broad coalition of industry organisations, trade unions, civil-society organisations and the Dutch government will be presenting an agreement on international corporate social responsibility in the garment and textile sector. In this agreement, these parties combine forces in an effort to achieve practical improvements in the international garment and textile production chain of Dutch apparel brands and retailers. IAF member MODINT, the Dutch apparel industry association, played a crucial role in building this ground breaking agreement. The agreement creates a public private partnership and ultimately an obligation for companies to conduct due diligence in their supply chains. On the other hand, signatory companies to the Covenant will be publically, and positively listed.
