Mimaki at Cosmopack in Bologna
Mimaki, a leading global manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and cutting plotters for the sign/graphics, textile/apparel and industrial markets, will showcase innovative, eye-opening packaging ideas for the cosmetics industry at Cosmopack. The show will take place from 17th to 20th March 17-20, 2016 in Bologna, Italy, as part of the 49th edition of Cosmoprof, the leading worldwide event for the professional beauty sector, as well as the cosmetics and wellness industry
In Hall 20, stand C9-D8 Mimaki will present ways to create head-turning cosmetics packaging that combines cost-effective creation of mock-ups and samples with small lot production. Using Mimaki printing technologies, imagery and labelling can be printed directly on cylindrical objects as well as on folding cartons and conventional labels that are ready for post-processing.
“Brand owners and designers are looking for ways to creatively transform customised packaging ideas for limited campaigns and regional promotions while meeting faster time to market demands,” states Mike Horsten, General Manager Marketing EMEA at Mimaki Europe. “To do this Mimaki has created a fast, cost-effective way to produce small lots on a wide range of substrates, including direct printing on cylindrical glass and plastic containers. We will be presenting numerous examples that showcase not only production flexibility but the design possibilities and the ways brand owners can differentiate to stand out.”
During the show, Mimaki will be producing sample folding cartons, labelling and direct print onto cylindrical objects. Featured solutions will include:
· UJF-7151 plus, a next-generation UV-LED printer that can print directly on a variety of substrates including plastics, metal, wood, leather and glass up to 710mm x 510mm with direct printing on substrates up to 153mm thick with exceptional print quality. The machine includes both white ink and clear varnish for creating stunning effects.
· UJF-3042HG, which will be equipped with the Kebab option, an additional unit that allows printing on cylindrical objects with a maximum length of 330mm and a diameter of up to 110mm, including glass bottles, sample tubes and many more.
· UJF-6042 + CFL-605RT: The UJF-6042 UV flatbed printer will be shown together with the CFL-605RT flatbed cutting plotter as a Print and Cut solution. The UJF-6042 prints on folding carton board and the CFL-605RT cuts the board into shape, creasing it in preparation for folding. This solution is especially suitable for mock-ups and proofing.
Mimaki will also highlight the CFL-605RT Compact Flatbed Cutter for high quality creasing and cutting on packaging board. This digital cutter makes the creation of multiple packaging samples and mock-ups simple and affordable, allowing more creativity in less time during the design process. Combined with Mimaki’s advanced printing technologies, the CFL-605RT is ideal for producing small lots of customised packaging and multiple sample ideas quickly and affordably.
“Digital print allows brands to test the market without committing to expensive longer runs that take up costly inventory space, incur additional distribution costs and often are discarded due to obsolescence,” says Horsten. “Our high quality, flexible approach to packaging design and production allows Cosmopack attendees to explore new worlds, open up markets and embrace wider opportunities. With a small change in their thinking they can give their business a completely new look.”
