Euro area
The first estimate for Euro Area(EA19) exports of goods to the rest of the world in December 2015 was EUR 167.5 billion, an increase of 3 % compared with December 2014 (EUR 162.1 billion). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 143.2 billion, also a rise of 3 % compared with December 2014 (EUR 138.5 billion). As a result, the Euro Area recorded a EUR 24.3 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in December 2015, compared with +EUR 23.6 billion in December 2014.
Intra-Euro Area trade rose to EUR 130.3 billion in December 2015, up by 2 % compared with December 2014.
These data were released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
In 2015, Euro Area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to EUR 2040.2 billion (an increase of 5 % compared with 2014), while imports rose to EUR 1794.2 billion (an increase of 2 % compared with 2014). As a result, the Euro Area recorded a surplus of EUR 246.0 billionn, compared with +EUR 184.3 billion in 2014.
Intra-Euro Area trade rose to EUR1 689.0 billion in 2015, up by 3 % compared with 2014.
European Union
The first estimate for extra-EU28 exports of goods in December 2015 was EUR 156.0 billion, up by 7 % compared with December 2014 (EUR 145.8 billion). Imports from the rest of the world stood at EUR 135.5 billion, up by 1 % compared with December 2014 (EUR 134.4 billion). As a result, the EU28 recorded a EUR 20.5 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in December 2015, compared with +EUR 11.4 billion in December 2014.
Intra-EU28 trade rose to EUR 234.7 billion in December 2015, +3 % compared with December 2014.
In 2015, extra-EU28 exports of goods rose to EUR 1789.1 billion (an increase of 5 % compared with 2014), while imports rose to EUR 1724.9 billion (an increase of 2 % compared with 2014). As a result, the EU28 recorded a surplus of EUR 64.2 billion, compared with +EUR 13.3 billion in 2014.
Intra-EU28 trade rose to EUR 3066.6 billion in 2015, +5 % compared with 2014.
