ITA registers a milestone in German-Turkish textile cooperation
The long tradition of German-Turkish cooperation will be strengthened and further expanded. ITA Institut für Textiltechnik (Institute of Textile Technology) of RWTH Aachen University and the 3T TextilTechnologieTransfer GmbH, Aachen, signed a cooperation agreement with the leading Turkish textile export associations for a common research and development centre in Istanbul, Turkey. The aim is to strengthen the German-Turkish economic and scientific relations.
In addition to the Chairman of the Council of Exporters Turkey (TIM), Mr. Mehmet Büyükekşi, the Chairman of Turkey’s largest Textile Export Association “Istanbul Textile and Raw Material Exporters Association” (ITHIB), Mr. Ismail Gülle, and boards of other partner organizations, a variety of senior participants from politics, science and industry was present.
The ceremonial signing of the contract in the Ciragan Palace Kempinski, Istanbul, was followed by the annual Fashion Design Competition initiated by ITHIB for upcoming designers.
ITA and the transfer company 3T GmbH have established intensive connections with companies, universities and industry associations of the textile sector in Turkey for more than seven years. The aim is to strengthen the partners in Turkey and Germany mutually through joint development projects, exchange of know-how and promotion of commercial and academic training.
In the facility in Istanbul, partners and industrial customers in Turkey will be acquired, supported and involved in joint development projects. In addition, German and Turkish companies will be assisted concerning the development of markets in the respective other country. The transnational co-operation will be supported in particular through intensive partnerships with industrial associations, universities and research institutes in Turkey and further expanded.
“ITA Istanbul Tekstil Araştırma Geliştirme ve Eğitim Anonim Şirketi” (ITA-Istanbul) is a research and development centre in partnership between the ITA and the leading Turkish Textile Export Associations from the regions Istanbul, Bursa, Izmir, Adana and Gaziantep. The Management Committee will be largely from the ITA of RWTH Aachen University. Under the management of Dr.-Ing. Bayram Aslan, it will be focused on the central technology fields nonwovens, clothing, decoration, coating and environment. Another business area will be the testing services.
ITA-Istanbul has as partner university the University of Marmara, and is 30 minutes from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, in a yet to be developed Technology Park of Marmara University. At the Marmara University a lecture on “Technical Textiles” is already beginning this year. The lecture will be assisted by Dr.-Ing. Bayram Aslan from ITA.
