Largest volume fibres in 2014

Cotton is by far the largest natural volume fibre. In 2014 the worldwide production of all fibres increased by 4.3 percent. The largest increases were for acrylic, nylon, and polyester. Polyester accounts for nearly 76 percent of the total manufactured fibre production. Cellulosic production increased 4.1 percent. (Source: Fiber Organon / Bremen Cotton Report)
