Volume of retail trade down by 0.6% in Euro Area
Monthly comparison by retail sector and by Member State. The 0.6 % decrease in the volume of retail trade in the Euro Area in June 2015, compared with May 2015, is due to falls of 0.8 % for “Food, drinks and tobacco” and of 0.2% for non-food products, while automotive fuel remained stable
In the EU28, the 0. 5 % decrease in the retail trade volume is due to falls of 0.6 % for “Food, drinks and tobacco”, of 0.4 % for automotive fuel and of 0.1 % for non- food products.
Among Member States for which data are available, the largest decreases in total retail trade were registered in Germany (- 2.3 %), Slovenia (-1.6 %) and Poland (-1.4 %), and the highest increases in Romania (+1.7 %), Austria (+1.3%) and Denmark (+1.1%).
Annual comparison by retail sector and by Member State: The 1.2 % increase in the volume of retail trade in the Euro Area in June 2015, compared with June 2014, is due to rises of 2.3 % for non-food products, of 1.8 % for automotive fuel and of 0.1 % of “Food, drinks and tobacco”.
In the EU28, the 2.0 % increase in retail trade volume is due to rises of 3.4 % for non-food products, of 1.4 % for automotive fuel and of 0.8% for “Food, drinks and tobacco”.
Among Member States, for which data are available, the highest increases in total retail trade were observed in Romania (+ 7.9 %), Lithuania (+ 7.1 %) and Latvia (+ 6.8 %), while decreases were observed in Luxembourg (- 9.9 %) and Finland (- 0.2 %).
