Oerlikon Neumag presents new Staple Fibre Plant for Carded Nonwovens at INDEX 14

Oerlikon Neumag will present plants and technologies for the production of high quality nonwovens for hygiene and technical applications at INDEX 14 (April 8 – 11, 2014) in Geneva (CH)

The new compact and economical Staple FORCE S 100 is engineered for the economical production of staple fibres in small lots up to 15 t/day and particularly for the production of carded nonwovens. It impresses with its low initial investment, compact construction and significantly reduced energy costs by replacing steam and water baths through a dry drawing process. It is of particular interest to downstream integrators who want to produce fibres for their products in-house, enabling the nonwovens producer to manufacture and further develop his end products without the disclosure of knowhow, also quality fluctuations can be excluded.

Oerlikon Neumag has a comprehensive portfolio of nonwoven technologies, from melt-spun, spunbond (spunbond and meltblown) to air-laid nonwovens. Application areas are – among others -special technical uses such as filtration, roofing, geo-textiles and automotive, as well as hygiene applications.

The company offers complete processing, from polymer chips to roll goods for the production of substrate for bitumen roofing membranes, sarking membranes and also geo-textile. The one-step spunbond technology convinces with a combination of effectiveness and productivity, thus lowering production costs up to 20 %.

More than 3 million t of technical nonwovens were produced, and demand is further increasing, particularly in emerging countries, and thinner, lighter, efficient materials in spunbond technology are required today.

Oerlikon Neumag’s meltblown technology is available as stand alone or upgrade solution. It enables cost efficient production of high quality meltblown and SMS (spunbond-meltblown-spunbond) products. Stand alone mono and bico meltblown plants produce nonwovens for a variety of filtration, insulation, and sorbent applications. The meltblown technology is applied for a multitude of medical and hygiene products as “Plug & Product” installations in existing and new SXS plants. This solution enables a cost efficient upgrading of new or existing spunbond plants and offers nonwoven producers to access markets with very high quality demand.

The core of the Oerlikon Neumag airlaid technology, the forming head, sets standards for the production of extremely thin airlaid nonwovens. High uniformity and homogeneous web formation are other characteristics to enable the production of high quality, light airlaid nonwovens, with economically attractive production speeds and plant throughputs. The new forming head additionally allows combination nonwovens, and in full utilisation of the plant’s capacity. At the same time, there are savings on raw material.
