AATCC bestows Chapin Award for Services to its own association
In recognition of his outstanding service to AATCC, the Association of Textile, Apparel & materials Professionals, has named Robert Keith Lattie (a member since 1984) as the 2013 recipient of the Harold C. Chapin Award, established in 1958 in honour of Harold C. Chapin, professor of chemistry at Lowell Textile School, who served as national secretary of AATCC for nearly 25 years
Lattie has served with honour and distinction in the administrative, research, and global outreach functions of AATCC. He served as the association’s President from 2005 to 2006.
At the international level, Lattie is a U.S. representative in test method research. He has chaired the AATCC C2-S1 International Test Methods Committee since 2003 and the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for ISO/TC 38 since 2002. He represents AATCC and ANSI at ISO/TC 38 SC1 and SC2 meetings, nationally, as well as internationally.
Lattie also serves on the AATCC Foundation Inc. Board of Directors. He helped AATCC staff and various committees develop domestic and international education and training programmes. Under Lattie’s presidential leadership, ATCC trained a number of international test method trainers, and in February 2006, travelled to Mumbai, India, for the inauguration of the AATCC India Section.
The award ceremony will take place at the AATCC International Conference, April 1-3, 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Ashville, North Carolina (USA).
