US retailing in February and a focus on clothing
The newest US government data show that retailing reached a value of USD 427.19 billion (including food sales), thereof USD 20.91 billion were spent on clothing and accessories and non stock retailers had a part of USD 32.89 billion
Total retail sales were up in February 0.3 % (in January -0.6 %) and on an annual basis February is up 6.3 % and January 4.9 %.
The heavy snow and rain falls definitely had an influence on the business. In the textile relevant business items that coincided with the stormy weather situation had an advantage, including sporting goods.
