Itema Weaving India with new managing director
On March 4, 2014 Itema, according to in-house information leading global provider of advanced weaving solutions, has elected Updeep Singh as the new managing director of Itema Weaving (India) Pvt Ltd. He is succeeding Tapas Nandi
India is one of the top three most important markets for Itema globally in terms of revenue from weaving machines and a country with significant prospects for continued growths. Updeep Singh joins Itema with a broad experience as senior executive leader in the Indian textile industry, most recently and since 2012 as Chief Operating Officer at NSL Textiles Ltd and Director of Business and Marketing for SEL Manufacturing Ltd. since 2011, as well as leadership position in Welspun India (2005 – 2011), Asia’s largest terry towel manufacturer., he was firstly President (Projects & Commercial) and later was promoted to President (Corporate Function) with responsibility for Business HR and Strategy. He started his career in 1987 as a Management Trainee at Vardham Textiles Ltd. In 2002 he was named Vice President (Purchase & Projects. He made active and valuable contributions to Indian textile associations, including the Indian Institute of Materials Management and the Ludhiana Management Association where he is an Executive Member. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the Punjap University (Chandigarh), and MBA in Marketing and Human Resources from the GND University (Amritsar), and a degree in Advanced Human Resources from the Executive Management Programme of the University of Michigan (USA). He also attended an intense training program in Change Management at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. He is married and has two children.
