IMG_2280In the framework of an important expansion plan to double production, the DBL group in Bangladesh invested in 2013 in the installation of one Monfort Montex stenter 6500 and in three Montex 8000 stenters 2014. The investment is backed by aid agencies in Great Britain and Norway, as well by the IFC International Finance Corporation, and the World Bank unit serving the private sector. Part of the investment programme form equipment and processes that are environmentally friendly

DBL Group ( headquartered in Gazipur, on the outskirts of Dhaka; 16’000 employees, rising to 37000 people by 2016) is one of the largest composite knit garments and textile companies in Bangladesh and will become the country’s largest vertically integrated producer by 2016. Currently new factory buildings are erected and new equipment including three Monforts Montedx 8000 stenters are installed. Before, the company had been using a stenter of another make and the 2012 delivered Monforts Montex 6500 stenter was leading to order further three Montex units.

All of the Monforts equipment has been supplied via the Monforts distributor for Bangladesh, Bengal Technological Corporation Ltd.

DBL Group is a conglomerate with other divisions, such as telecoms, leather and ceramics. The textiles division was founded in 1991 with just seven knitting machines and about 100 workers. The dyeing and finishing divisions were established in 2001. Today there are 14 divisions devoted to various elements of the textile and garment industry, with facilities for spinning, knitting, dyeing and finishing, garments washing, packaging and printing. Fabrics include single jersey, piqué, fleece, terry, rib, interlock and variegated fabrics made of cotton, viscose, polyester, zayon and elastan fibres.

The three dyeing and washing divisions are Hamza Textiles Ltd., Mymun Textiles Ltd. and Color City Ltd., the latter will become home to the Monforts stenters. The production capacity for apparels is 6.5 million pieces per month and the major markets are Europe, USA and Canada.

DBL is focusing on quality production and export share is 100 % of its production.  Total group exports amounted 2011 to USD 252 million and are projected to rise to USD 600 million by 2015. Customers are brands like H&M, Walmart, George, Esprit and Puma.

The scale and efficiency of the group’s ETP facilities are serving as a benchmark by the Bangladeshi Department of the Environment to set up other ETPs in the country. DBl is considered an effluent treatment plant (ETP), the largest in Bangladesh, with a capacity of 4000 m3. The Group will install another ETP with a capacity of 7500 m3.
