H&M is reportedly due to shut down its Stoke-on-Trent warehouse in a bid to relocate to a new site in Milton Keynes, putting 500 jobs at risk.

XPO Logistics, which runs the Stoke-on-Trent warehouse located at Sideway, said the new Milton Keynes warehouse is due to open later this year, BBC News reported.

The company said on Tuesday that employees will be given the opportunity to relocate.

Both H&M and XPO said that around 129 XPO colleagues and around 400 agency warehouse colleagues will see their jobs affected by this move.

They added that they will work closely to find and discuss suitable solutions for those currently employed by XPO and working on the H&M account.

Meanwhile, the affected XPO employees have been offered the option to transfer to the new H&M site at Milton Keynes.

Last month, H&M Group saw its chairman Stefan Persson step down after more than 20 years in the role.

The news comes amidst H&M’s full-year trading update, in which Persson said he would be standing for re-election as Chairman at H&M’s AGM on May 7, 2020.
