Clariant to acquire Indian masterbatch producer

Swiss internationally operating Clariant, according to in-house information a world leader in specialty chemicals, announced on December 16, 2013 that it plans to acquire Plastichemix Industries, a masterbatch business in India, headquartered in Vadodara

Plastichemix Industries disposes of production facilities in Rania, Kalol and Nandesari in Gujarat (IND). The company is a leading supplier of black, white, filler and colour masterbatches, additive masterbatches, flushed pigments and mono-concentrates, as well as engineering plastics compounds.

Clariant’s BU Business Unit Masterbatches has more than 50 manufacturing plants around the world. The envisoned acquisition would complement its product portfolio and would enable the company to cater to a larger customer base. It would create synergies assisting to develop further its business. Clariant is aspiring to double its sales in the sector in the next five years. The acquisition forms part of the global strategy to explore business opportunities in the masterbatches sector and to focus on emerging markets like India.
