Oerlikon Barmag’s WINGS POY is further enhancing yarn production
Oerlikon Barmag (belonging to Oerlikon’s Manmade Fibres Segment) has set a new benchmark for the efficient production of polyester fibres with its new yarn winder WINGS POY 1800, allowing the enhancement of productivity by another 20 %
Stefan Kross, CEO of the Oerlikon Segment, states: “With WINGS POY 1800, we are again underscoring our technological leadership in the area of filament spinning. We will make use of this technology to boost our market share of more than 40 % in the manmade fibre machinery industry”.
Almost every large manmade-fibre manufacturer around the world already uses the revolutionary WINGS products. The yarns are destined for products such as clothing, tyre cord, seat belts, cushions and Technical Textiles like geotextiles.
14000 units WINGS (Winding Integrated Godet Solution) were sold so far since its introduction in 2007, and for the yarn types pre-oriented yarn (POY) and fully drawn yarn (FDY).
Compared to its predecessor type the new product can accommodate twelve bobbins instead of ten bobbins, a remarkable highly sophisticated technical advancement.
