Unmatched new shade depths

Huntsman Textile Effects, a division of Huntsman Corporation (USA), and a leading manufacturer of textile dyes and chemicals, is launching DICRYLAN® Shade Deepener (SD) to help mills achieve shade depths for blacks and navies as never before

DICRYLAN® SD represents a technological breakthrough in achieving unparalleled colour depths on all fibres without any compromise on fastness properties. This is achieved through an innovative approach via the use of light scattering and light polarisation.

When light hits small particles such as the DICRYLAN® SD polymer backbone, it is scattered in all directions, resulting in a deeper shade visually as less light is reflected back. This effect is further enhanced by light polarisation resulting from the unique orientation of the polymer structure. The polymer units are oriented perpendicularly to each other and the light source. This results in a significant reduction in transmitted light and leads to a significantly deeper and darker shade.

Steve Gray, Huntsman Textile Effects Global Vice President for Strategic Marketing & Planning, explains: “We have obtained increases in colour depth by up to 50 %. This is a significant breakthrough which will help our customers achieve much deeper and richer blacks which were previously unattainable. It is a quantum leap forward in deep dye technology and works on all fibres.”

The new product further supports the depths of shades achieved with AVITERA®SE dyes helping to increase production output by over 25 % and without additional capital investment, declares Jay Naidu, Huntsman Textile Effects Global Marketing Director for Apparel and Home Textiles. He ads “The state-of-the-art colour fastness and retention of AVITERA®SE, coupled with the unique properties of the new product make this the perfect partnership in delivering superior value to our customers and underscores Huntsman’s commitment to sustainability and continued innovation.”
