China’s Communist Party convenes third plenary session
On August 27, 2013, China’s Communist Party respectively the Central Committees political bureau convenes a key meeting of senior party officials in November to discuss major policy issues and reform measures
It will be the third plenary session of the 18th Central Committee in November. The exact date is not yet know. It is expected that important decisions will be taken but some details will have to be sorted out on how the reforms might take place. On the agenda is a reform of prices for resources, urbanisation and an easing of the household registration system limiting rural migration to the cities. The financial reforms should also be enhanced to allow more market based interest rates and easing capital controls. Another discussion on the agenda will be the fate of state owned enterprises and it is expected that those intentions will meet opposition. Without doubt it will be an important session with far reaching decisions.
