Swedish clothing chain KappAhl is looking for a new marketing head
On September 13, 2013 Anders Paulsson will leave his position as Vice President Marketing at Swedish clothier KappAhl. During the recruitment process President and CEO Johan Aberg will assume the responsibilities of Anders Paulsson. A reason for the departure of Paulsson has not been announced.
Promotion to Senior Economist at ICAC
At the occasion of the 525th meeting in Cary, North Carolina on August 22, 2013, the Standing Committee of ICAC Intenratinal Cotton Advisory Committee approved the promotion of Dr. Alejandro Plastina, from Economist to Senior Economist, based on professional growth and accomplishment and effective immediately
During his six year tenure as Economist for the Secretariat Dr. Platina served as editor of the annual report “World Textile Demand” since 2007, and in the same capacity of the bimonthly publication “Cotton : Review of the World Situation” since 2010, as well as of the joint publication of the FAO Food and Agricultural Organisation of the UN United nations and ICAC “World Apparel Fibre Consumption Survey” in 2011 and 2013. In addition he was Manager of the Expert Panel on Social, Environmental and Economic Performance of Cotton Production (SEEP) since 2012. He is also an invited lecturer to ACSA International Cotton Institute at the University of Memphis, the Texas International Cotton School at Texas Tech University, and the GEOCOTON Seminar in Paris. He further was manager of the Task Force on Cotton Identity Programmes since 2013; and Vice-Chair (2012) and Chair (2013) of the Beltwide Cotton Economics and Marketing Conference.
Dr. Plastina has developed and maintained econometric models to forecast demand for cotton and other textile fibres,k and to forecast cotton prices. He published four academic journal articles, three book chapters, and six dozen articles on cotton specialised magazines. He represented ICAC in 21 countries in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe. He also supervised seven consultants (FAO/ICAC PROJECTS) AND TWO INTERNS. He developed cooperative research agreements with public and private institutions: USDA, FAO, PCI Fibres Ltd., Cotton Incorporated, and Oerlikon Saurer. He is a graduee from £Texas International Cotton School at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Plastina is advancing the body of research conducted by the ICAC and substantially expanding the role of the Secretariat as the recognised international body for cotton research within the community of international organisations.
Another addition is Rebecca Pandolph who will join the Secretriat on September 1, 2013 and will assume the responsibilities as Statistician on October 4, 2013. She has a M.A. in International Economic Affairs from George Washington University and a B.A. in Economics and French from Pennsylvania State University, and she is proficient in English and French, as well as intermediate capabilities in Japanese.
Dr. Caterina Au, the current statistician announced her resignation in July for personal reasons, but she will serve as statistician through coming up 72nd Plenary Meeting in Cartagena (Colombia).
