Worsening conditions for Cambodian textile workers over past two years
TextileFuture has lately reported on the non adequate working conditions for Cambodian textile workers. Now ILO the International Labour Organisation of the UN United Nation reports that such conditions have been worsening over the past two years
According to the local UN agency in Phnom Peng the working conditions improved during 2005 to 2011, but since they were degrading again, endangering not only the safety of such workers (such as barred emergency exits during working hours, no training in the case of a fire) and in more than half of the examined factories there is suspected child labour. As we recall the average monthly salary of the 650000 textile workers in Cambodia averages USD 110.
