A new product for fuel filtration
Finnish Ahlstrom (high performance fibre based materials) introduces Captimax TM, a new best-in-class fuel media at ongoing IDEA 13 (International Engineered Fabrics) nonwovens conference and exhibition (April 22 – 25, 2013) in Miami, Florida (USA)
The new product is destined for fuel filters in passenger and commercial heavy-duty vehicles and off-road machinery. It is further evaluated for use in other applications such as hydraulic and fuel water separation.
Captimax TM makes use of Eastman’s Cyphrex TM microfibers and Ahlstrom created a media for a filter allowing manufacturers to obtain optimum micron efficiency ratings and dust holding capacity without compromises. The new product provides a balance of excellent small-particle retention and the potential for longer product life. The media also lets fuel filtration system suppliers maintain existing capacity levels but with a decrease of the product size. Additionally, the media may allow increased efficiency with better options to filter fine particles to protect fuel injectors in vehicles and machines. Ahlstrom Captimax TM provides high efficiency by allowing engines to perform at their maximum. It allows customers to make filters to the specifications needed, and to develop products outside the standard constraints from the media, underlines Gary Blevins, Vice President, Marketing and Commercial for Ahlstrom Transportation Filtration. It is the first offering with Cyphrex TM microfibers from Eastman Chemical Company and Mark J.
