Earning discounts and making donations by just simply cleaning out your closet
Goodwill Industries® and American The Bon-Stores, Inc. have been encouraging consumers to donate and save during the semi-annual Goodwill Sale that took place from Mrch 13 – 30, 2013. Throughout the sale, The Bon-Stores, headquartered in York, Pennsylvania (USA) and Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA) operating 271 department stores, including 11 furniture galleries in 24 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates, offering a broad assortment of national and private brand fashion apparel and accessories for women, men and children, cosmetics and home furnishings, will be accepting donations of used clothing and soft home goods
These donations will be sold at Goodwill stores – a network of 165 community-based agencies in the U.S. and Canada with 14 affiliates in 13 other countries – and each item of clothing or textile donated, shoppers will received a discount coupon that can be used online or at any of the above listed Bon-Stores on nearly everything such as women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories at 25 % discount and home store merchandise at 20 %. And cosmetics, fragrances, furniture, and small electrics at 15 % discount.
Consumers were also invited to visit Goodwill’s website to learn mor about the event and register to play the Closet Clean-Out Giveaway Instant-Win Game to receive a 25 % off coupon to us in-store or online and to be entered into the sweepstakes and the winner wil have the Bon-Ton credit card purchase made between March 4 – 30, 2013, paid off (up to USD 2500). By entering, consumers had also a chance to instantly win Bon-Ton gift cards. Also other incentives were offered.
The Bon-Ton Goodwill sale is the largest and longest standing department store donation drive with Goodwill and takes place twice a year (spring and fall). Last year’s Goodwill Sale exceeded USD 200 million in revenue to support Goodwill’s employment service. In 2012, more than 4.2 million people in North America benefited from Goodwill’s career services and 82 % of the revenues go directly into such programmes and services.
