Picanol of America with new headquarters
The official inauguration ceremony for the new Picanol of America headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina (USA) took place on March 21, 2013
The new headquarters are located at 65 Kitty Hawk Road in Greenville and the inauguration ceremony attracted more than 150 customers. Belgian Picanol is celebrating also its 50 years of presence in America. Picanol of America is focusing on sales of Picanol weaving machines and original Picanol spare parts and accessories, as well as machine repair and training services and employs actually 19 people. Because of the sale of Steel Heddle in September 2011, Picanol had to establish a new headquarter for its American subsidiary.
Picanol is half a century present in the United States. In 1959, Picanol entered into an agreement with an agency to represent Picanol in North America in order to make use of the potential and expected growth of the two markets U.S. and Canada. The decision was based on a strong belief in developing long term customer partnerships and to provide a more proactive and high level of service to local customers. In February 1966 Picanol has set up its own organisation Picanol of America. The success of the subsidiary company (100 % ownership of Picanol) over decades is reflected in the strategic importance attributed to the market and by installing tens of thousands Picanol weaving machines at American weaving mills.
At the inauguration, Luc Tack, Managing Director of the Picanol Group, declared: “In recent decades, both thanks to and in tandem with our American customers, we have constantly pushed our limits in view to the performance and versatility of our weaving machines. It was also the trust and belief of our American customer that Picanol has been able to grow into a world leader. Furthermore, the successes achieved by Picanol in the U.S. over the past decades have undoubtedly paved the way for our global expansion”.
Picanol Group (turnover 2012 EUR 461.75 million with more than 1950 employees worldwide) is engaged in the development and manufacturing of weaving machine. Another industrial division (Proferro) is a foundry (Cast iron products for compressors, agricultural machinery, and Picanol weaving machines. PsiControl Mechatronics is specialising in design, development, manufacturing and support of a.o. controllers for various industries. The firm Melotte develops and produces innovative product solutions using Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) and Near-to-Net-Shape Manufacturing (NNSM) technologies. Besides its headquarters in Belgium, the Picanol Group has production sites in Asia and Europe linked to its on worldwide sales and service network.
