Swiss EMS Group takes the reins at EFTEC Central and Eastern Europe

Swiss EMS Group (High Performance Polymers and Specialty Chemicals) and its combined companies in EMS-CHEMIE Holding AG, will take the complete reins at EFTEC automotive supply business in Central and Eastern Europe and at a cost of around CHF 60 million from its own treasury funds

EFTEC is a worldwide supplier to the automotive industry and member of EMS Group. It develops, produces and markets materials and application technology ion the specialised fields of bonding, coating, sealing and damping and in these applications EFTEC is holding leading worldwide market positions.

The markets of Central and Eastern Europe have up to now being served trough a regional joint venture founded in 2000, and in 2012 with net sales of CHF 82 million and with 211 employees. It is operating four production sites in Hradek (CZ), Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia) and Budeasa (Romania). EMS Group will now take over the remaining 50 % share from Czech partner D PLAST in order to gain complete control of the former joint venture. EMS is aiming to further increase the business in these geographical regions of Europe and to strengthen at the same its leading market position as a global automotive supplier.

The closing of the deal depends on the decisions of the anti-trust authorities.
