Former BASF Chairman bestowed
Professor Dr. Jürgen Strube (73), former BASF Chairman of the Board and now honorary Chairman, has been honoured on February 25, 2013 with the German Order of Merit for his long time efforts to the benefit of the German economy and civil society
At the official ceremony in Magdeburg, Dr. Reiner Haselhoff, President of the ministerial council of Saxony-Anhalt, declared that Strube has always followed its belief that the economy, politics and civil society are depending on each other and have to be engaged in an ongoing dialogue. Strube engaged himself also for the Wittenberg Centre of Global Ethics.
Up to now, Strube has been bestowed with the Federal Cross of Merit and the actual award takes into account his life’s work.
As BASF Chairman from 1990 to 2003 he has initiated decisive strategic decisions for the future of the company, namely the globalisation of BASF and the start of the combined production facilities in Nanjing (PRC) and Kuantan, Malaysia and he initiated investment into the chemical site of Schwarzheide, Brandenburg.
