The launch of the H&M Garment Recycling Programme
On February 21, 2013 and with prominent guest Swedish clothier H&M Hennes & Mauritz celebrated jointly with Global Green USA the kickoff of H&M’s global garment recycling program at Global Green’s 10th annual Pre-Oscar Party in Los Angeles, California (USA)
The most prominent guests were Sophia Bush, Emmy Rossum, Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr and Helen Hunt and the sponsor of the event was H&M featured in an exclusive H&M Conscious* lounge highlighting the companies key sustainability initiatives including their fashionable Conscious clothing collections. An ivory organic cotton three-piece suit from H&M’s Spring 2013 Conscious clothing collections was worn by Sophia Bush on the green carpet. We reported before (see news of December 10, 2012) on the outstanding effort of H&M.
For every returned bag of clothing customers will receive a voucher allowing a 15 % rebate when they buy a next item at H&M.
Global Green USA, the American affiliate of Green Cross International, will be the sole U.S. beneficiary for the H&M garment recycling programme and the funds raised will in part help to support their on-going work in the areas of green building as well as rebuilding communities suffering from the impacts of climate change, sea level rise, and environmental degradation, such as those devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. The organisation has influenced more than USD 20 billion for green building projects and educates millions of people in view to climate friendly solutions through its annual Red Carpet / Green Cars Oscars campaign.
