Swiss Clariant with more 2012 sales but less profitability
Swiss Specialty Chemical company Clariant reports 2012 sales of CHF 6038 (5571) million sales or plus 8 % but a lower EBITDA of CHF 802 (835) million or -4 % in CHF and -5 % in local currencies. Clariant is launching also a new signage and image campaign
Also the net income dropped from CHF 251 to CHF 238 million. Discontinued operations, among the to be sold Textile Business (for details refer to TextileFuture Breaking News of December 27, 2013) had sales of CHF 1744 (CHF 1799) million.
For 2013, Clariant expects a persisting soft macroeconomic environment characterised by high volatility. While solid growth in the emerging markets is most likely, no significant growth impulses are expected from the European and North American economies, thus Clariant will focus on growing the seven core business and continuous cost discipline leading to top-line growth in local currencies and improved profitability in 2013. At the same Clariant confirms its 2015 targets of an EBITDA margin of above 17 % (actually 13.3 %).
Clariant has started a tremendous image campaign to bring the company nearer to the public worldwide and of course to its customers. It is a signage roll-out and Clariant International is launching it in cooperation of the visual communication agency WESTIFORM . In every other region, Group’ Procurement and Group Communications will choose certified partners to evaluate local requirements and implement the new signage in line with the Corporate Guidelines. The activities will take place during 2013. There is also a shop launched offering the new corporate signage in practical gift products for customers and in new categories such as “Executive Corner” and Conference and Fair”, those can be viewed by using the link to the second website following, and at the headquarter in Swiss Muttenz a Brand Room has been established to bring the new Clariant philosophy to life. In addition three corporate image workshops are being held on February 25, 26 and 27, 2013. After a brief presentation of the imagery guidelines prepared by the Corporate Identity Lead Agency Mutabor Design, a few practical examples of the current image communication will be analysed and processed.
