International Production Cost Comparison 2012 by ITMF

Late December ITMF, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation, Zurich (CH) released the 2012 edition of its biennial International Production Cost Comparison. According to in-house information it is the only consolidated source for benchmarking yarn and fabric production costs prevailing in nine of the world’s most important textile manufacturing countries, namely Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Turkey and the U.S.A.

The newest report highlights the implications of the ever-increasing capital intensity of the primary textile industry and traces the impact of cost factors borne by manufacturers and by presenting them on a standardised level allowing to compare the elements of total manufacturing costs across representative production facilities and it gives a comprehensive breakdown of manufacturing and total yarn and fabric costs and components. The segments analysed are Spinning, Texturing, Weaving and Knitting and with detailed results for ring-spun, OE and textured yarns and for fabrics woven and knitted from each of these yarn types.

Manufacturing costs are based on parameters specified by textile machinery manufacturing companies Reiter, Oerlikon Barmag, Picanol and Mayer & Cie.
