Chinese express and courier services benefit from growing e-commerce
Chinese market research company IDC indicates that China’s online shopping volume amounted to CNY 784.93 billion in 2011 or plus 66 % increase against 2010. Chinese e-commerce should develop up to 2015 to CNY 18 trillion with online shopping growing better than to CNY 3 trillion. This will be beneficial to the express and courier service companies and will lead also to make the sector more professional. China posted in the ongoing year an express package volume of 3.83 billion pieces, more than a full year volume of 2011 and with a sharp average monthly growth of more than 50 % and the top players expecting no less than the doubling of their businesses.
Today’s motto is quality and not quantity and this means an enhancing of personnel quality by investing in training, e.g. Shentong Express spends CNY 10 million (around USD 1.6 million) on a joint-educational programme with Tsinghua University offering senior management courses. Shanghai municipal government has stepped up subsidies to give industry staff training and 50 % of the delivery staff of totally 6000 persons of Shanghai’s ZTO Express have taken such courses at reduced rate.
