IAF International Student Awards 2012
IAF International Apparel Federation and in cooperation iwth the Fashion Education Network (part of the FashionUnited group) has bestowed the IAF International Student Awards 2012
The award in the category Fashion Design went to the British fashion design student Rebecca White (20). The Fashion Branding award was bestowed to British marketing student Sophie Cannings (21). The two winners were selected from four selected nominations in their category. In total, students from 64 different fashion institutes around the globe were competing for these awards and 84 projects from students from 22 countries were submitted to the jury composed of the following industry insiders: Felcia Pered, Head Design of Supertrash, Julia Hengstmann, HR, Diesel, Angelique Westerhof, Director, Dutch Fashion Foundation and Matthijs Crietee, Deputy Secretary General IAF.
The price for Rebecca White will be a paid internship placement in the design department of Super Trash in Amsterdam (NL) and Sophie Cannings is awaiting a paid internship placement at Diesel in Dusseldorf (D). Both projects of the winners will be published by FashionUnited in 12 countries and with an accompanying interview.
IAF and FashionUnited aim to connect education and the industry. IAF offers educational institutes and their students a unique access to a global network of apparel companies and the International Student Award is effectively attracting top talents and by introducing them to the top global apparel companies. The 2013 edition will include for the first time ever a Product Development category.
