Swiss textile machinery exports decreased, but increased textile exports in October

After all, the slowdown of the global economy is wearing also off on Swiss textile, clothing and textile machinery exports

According to the newest official statistics, exports of Swiss textile machinery was in October 17.0 % in real terms lower than in October of 2011 and nominally 21.9 % lower and settled at a value of CHF 86 million. Textile exports amounted to CHF 132 million or an increase of 5.9 % in real terms and 4.0 % nominally and clothing exports settled at CHF 124 million meaning an increase of 8.9 % in real terms and 6.9 % nominally. It is worth to note that both categories of textile exports were above the absolute value of textile machinery and this is for the first time since 2009.

Switzerland imported CHF 562 million or nominally 8.2 % more in October as against the same month in 2011 and in real terms 3.8 % more.

Total Swiss exports amounted to CHF 18.6 billion and imports were earmarked at CHF 15.8 billion.
