Ahlstrom opens new joint venture plant in China
Finnish high performance materials company Ahlstrom has inaugurated yesterday its new production facility in Longkou, Shandong Province, in eastern China. It is a joint venture with Longkou Yulong Paper Co. Ltd
The new joint venture will produce medical papers used for sterilisation wraps, masking tape base papers for the building industry destined for the Asian market and the Food and Medical Business Area and will support the company’s growth strategy and also strengthens its presence in Asia. Crepe paper is used in the medical and building industries and provides interesting opportunities for growth in the region.
The investment into the new plant amounted to EUR 21.9 million of which Ahlstrom contributed EUR 13.1 million. The new facility will employ around 140 people and is located in the Zhu You Guan Industrial Park in Longkou, conveniently positioned near a large commercial port with excellent connections to China and Asia by road and sea, ensuring easy logistics for both incoming raw materials and shipment of products. The announcement of the investment was already made in October of 2010.
