Oerlikon Textile with more sales and order intake
Oerlikon Textile (textile machinery systems) reports for the third quarter of 2012 (against the same period last year) a 17 % higher order intake or from CHF 415 million to CHF 486 million and an increase in sales of 4 % or from CHF 506 million to CHF 524 million, however the order backlog dropped 20 % or from CHF 1212 million to CHF 970 million
The segment presented for the third quarter of the ongoing year a two percent growth of EBIT or from CHF 56 million to CHF 57 million, however the EBIT margin decreed slightly from 11.1 % to 10.9 %. Sales were based mostly on the demand for Manmade Fibre products and the segment posted the strongest sales increase within Oerlikon Group. An important driver represented the excellent market reception of Oerlikon’s new products presented at ITMA Asia in the second quarter. There was also an increased demand for carpet yarn equipment in the U.S. and the segment sold five plants from the S+ product family. Form Oerlikon’s perspective the overall market continues to remain strong and first orders for delivery in 2015 have already been booked.
Looking at the nine months of 2012 and against the same period of 2011 total order intake decreased by 8 % or from CHF 1610 million to CHF 1486 million, the order backlog decreased as mentioned above by 20 % whereas sales increased by 4 % or from CHF 1484 million to CHF 1540 million and EBIT increased 53 % or from CHF 132 million to CHF 202 million.
